Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Probably one of the smallest capitals on the world. It is like a small village, where you feel domestic and safe. This photo was taken when our friend Vere from Arizona – who belongs to the Navajo nation – was visiting Slovenia. She adores pleasant walks through quiet main market and old part of Ljubljana.
We were standing by the statue of our greatest Slovenian poet, Mr. Preseren, enjoying a slow morning on a quiet March day. March is still low season in Ljubljana. There are not a lot of tourists, so you can observe local life without bumping into the groups who descend on Ljubljana during summer time.
What I most like about Ljubljana is the part by the river, just few steps from our observing point by the statue. From May to October this area comes alive, with tourists and locals mixing together, drinking coffee, cocktails or a glass of good Slovenian wine while many festival events surround you.
And that was the next thing we did on that March morning with Vere; we went to one of old Ljubljana’s numerous bars for a glass of good Slovenian wine.

The photos of Slovenia just make me rank Slovenia higher in my “must visit” list of places!
And as I like small and quiet places it has to be soon!
