Luang Namtha Rounds out the whl.travel Coverage of Laos

Lounging peacefully on the banks of the Nam Tha River in northern Laos is the city of Luang Namtha, the leading city in the province of the same name. Although widely considered a stopover town for backpackers travelling between China and Laos, Luang Namtha is a great destination on its own for anyone interested in a more rugged and mountainous version of Laos.

This image shows two young novice monks playing (while working) at Wat Impeng temple in Vientiane during Pi Mai (Lao New Year). Pi Mai is one of the biggest festivals of the year in Laos, a time when thousands of people visit the many temples found all across the country to wash the Buddha images as a way to gain merit.
