Lounging peacefully on the banks of the Nam Tha River in northern Laos is the city of Luang Namtha, the leading city in the province of the same name. Although widely considered a stopover town for backpackers travelling between China and Laos, Luang Namtha is a great destination on its own for anyone interested in a more rugged and mountainous version of Laos.
