When I look at this photo I get a taste of what I experienced kayaking in Ang Thong National Marine Park. ‘The sublime’ is to feel our smallness in the natural world, to feel overwhelmed by its power and greatness. In turn, this feeling of wonder and humility grants us a connection to that world.

Jericoacoara is old fishing village located in the northeast of Brazil, more precisely in the state of Ceará, west of its capital city of Fortaleza. The village appeared to the world in 1994, after the ‘Washington Post’ newspaper chose the beach as one of the 10 most beautiful in the world. Because of this, Jericoacoara became a famous tourist destination for international travellers.

The picture was taken at Coral Cay (or Crawl Cay as it is locally known), about 20 minutes away by boat ride from Isla Colón/Bocas Island. The Cay is appropriately named after the abundant coral reefs that surround it. It is one the best places to snorkel and a great place to have lunch if you wish to do so in a spectacular environment.

As usual, I was travelling around South America with my girlfriend. During our research about Peru, we read a lot about the Miraflores neighbourhood in Lima and decided to stay there for a few days before leaving for Cusco and Machu Picchu. On the way there, we drove us along this beautiful road by the sea called La Costa Verde – the Green Coast.
