THE BACKDOOR – WRITE YOUR WAY IN
(and win seven nights accommodation in a South African lodge)
Calling all travel writers! Whether you write professionally or if just have a story to share, Make Travel Fair wants to hear from you. The writer that submits the best travel article will be rewarded with a weeklong stay in a beautiful South African lodge.
What You Need to Do
* Write and submit an article that addresses the following question: “A major sporting event creates a large influx of tourism to the host destination. What are the implications and benefits of that influx of travellers to a destination like South Africa?” Use up to 1,500 words to get your point across.
* Submit your work via this online form or by sending it to michelle@maketravelfair.com before 25 July 2010.
* The three articles voted the best by a panel of judges will be published on the Make Travel Fair website and the WHL Group blog, and the winner will walk away with the prize.

WIN TWO GORILLA TRACKING PERMITS IN RWANDA WORTH US$1000
Always wanted to see a gorilla? Here’s your chance!
In an effort to promote awareness of gorilla conservation in Rwanda, The Far Horizon (the whl.travel local connection in Uganda) is offering two complimentary gorilla-tracking permits to whoever can correctly guess the number of Virunga Mountain Gorillas currently living in the Virunga Volcano range. (Hint: In 2003, it was estimated that there were 380 gorillas roaming the region.)
What You Need to Do
* Send your name, physical address and prediction to marketing@thefarhorizons.com by midnight (GMT) on 31 July 2010.
* The first person to correctly predict the population estimate will win the prize.
