Although it is just a small island, Bali, one of the most famous islands of Indonesia, has justifiably become one of the world’s top beach tourism destinations, attracting nearly three million visitors yearly. Aside from the island’s busy seaside resorts, awesome beaches and pounding surf, however, lies another side of island life. It’s open to anyone ready to venture just a bit off the tourist trail.
It’s this more remote and local side of Bali that is captured in the short film “Bali Je t’aime” produced by the studio Art Island and filmed and edited by Andrew Melikov.
Focusing on Balinese culture and modern life on the island, the video gives its viewers a lasting glimpse of the beauty found between its shores. Our favourite shots in this short but poetic film are of local fisherman coming home with their catch, children splashing each other in a nearby stream, the many images of Bali’s fruits and flowers and the sights and sounds of the jungle at night.
